Elite 8 in Oklahoma City

The best of the best. #1. Head honcho. Pioneers.

All these words describe leaders either in business or individuals. There is always someone who is the BEST.

Our company has been a leader in the industry due to the nature, innovation and culture of our business. Though there are other firms out there that do what we do, we are 2nd to NONE.

May we present you, a group that will serve as a think tank for innovative thinkers all over the state called "The Elite 8".

Social Media Mack will facilitate a lunch meeting quarterly inviting the "best of the best" in their respected industry to come together and share things that both work and didn't work for them in their success. Each group of professionals will be different every quarter.

This elite group coming together will foster unity in the business community and will be a great start to building a bond.

e·lite/iˈlēt/NounA group of people considered to be the best in a particular society or category, esp. because of their power, talent, or wealth.

Keep up with your email... invites coming soon!

Business Owner Survival Kit

Coming up on my six month anniversary of being a business owner has given me the inclination to inform you, the general public, on how I have survived thus far.

Here are some must- haves when having your own business:

Business Cards: From Vista Print to the local printers, everyone needs to have a tangible note with your contact info. Make it catchy and different with colors, readable fonts, and even social network info.

Notepad: Circumstances may arise where you forget your cards or someone has some additional info to give you. Having a pen and paper handy to get potential client "extras" is a must.

GPS: Oklahoma is fairly easy to navigate if you are traveling on one of the five highways that runs thru Oklahoma City. It is easiest to get an address, plug it in and have exact results appear.

Itunes: M.I.M.S. Music Is My Savior. Bad day or good, a little bit of music is necessary for the working soul.

Snacks: Plenty of times meetings overlap each other. Stopping at McDonalds is not always possible nor healthy. Non- Perishable food items such as: nuts, crackers, chips, and a bottle of water are a big help when that blood sugar is low.

Not everyone makes it out there, Running the show is a big job!!!

What is this "Social Networking" thing?

Many questions arise when the words "Social Networking" is mentioned in conversation. Most people don't understand or have no clue how to go about setting up a social network account.

Here is a brief explanation from digizen.org of what social networking is and how it can work for you and your business.

Social networking services” refers here to a wide-range of rapidly developing services tools and practices.

Social networking services can be broadly defined as Internet- or mobile-device-based social spaces designed to facilitate communication, collaboration and content sharing across networks of contacts.

Social networking services allow users to manage, build and represent their social networks online. Services usually (but not always) include other individuals; they might also include the profiles of events, companies, even political parties. They may let you add anyone in the network as your friend or contact, or they might ask both parties to agree all connections.

Social networking services typically support the public display of networks, although they may offer privacy restrictions or facilitate closed communities. Permissions are a very important feature of most social networking services. They allow members and groups to control who can access their profiles, information, connections and spaces, as well as determining degrees of access.

TOO MUCH IN "MYSPACE"

Irritation is one of the many words that I have to describe what the world calls social networking.

Myspace to be specific, drives me crazy.

I always get the feeling the criteria for this site must be trashy, and my default picture has to be of me getting married, engaged or of my recent kid I just had.

I understand being a proud parent and a newly wed couple, but putting every detail on the web for the world to see is really unnecessary.

Some will call me jealous or jaded because I don't have those things?? I would beg to differ.

My day will come and when it does, you can bet everyone will not get a play -by-play of when my kid barfs or when I get a divorce.

The end.
